During my first term, we worked together to champion and deliver real results for our students, teachers, and community. Together, we:
•Secured the largest teacher pay raise in EPISD history to recruit and retain top educators.
•Reduced 5th-grade class sizes to improve learning and teaching conditions.
•Launched intramural sports for elementary students, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and early athletic development.
•Spearheaded the creation of El Paso’s first public Montessori school, expanding high-quality education options.
•Introduced Ivy League classes in EPISD—the first in the city—to expand academic excellence.
•Established stipends for hard-to-fill and coaching positions to strengthen teacher retention and student programs.
•Pushed a partnership with the Young Women’s Preparatory Network for the Young Women’s STEAM and Preparatory Academy, empowering future leaders.
•Expanded SAT preparation and advanced coursework to increase college readiness for all students.
•Accelerated Algebra I instruction to match top-performing districts and raise academic standards.
•Strengthened bilingual education by expanding support for dual-language programs.
•Supported the development of new Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways to prepare students for high-paying, in-demand careers.
•Pushed for a district-wide strategic plan that focused on mental health, whole-child education, and strong student outcomes.
•Increased transparency and public accountability with a dashboard tracking the largest federal education investment in history.
•Ensured equity in special education by disaggregating student populations in student goals, holding the district accountable for better outcomes.
